Spheres of Influence

January 08, 2019

Marketing
taught me
Brightest
Loudest
No
need to be modest

Reach the skies
Break glass ceilings
“Mom are you proud of me?”
“Dad do you love me?”
The screams of generations
that surround me

Stand tall
Chin up
Just because
you throw
your fists up
Doesn’t mean you gave up

Karate is an empty handed fight
But it’s neither flight nor fight
Its Dignity
Dancing
Awake in
the dreaming

Planting roots Firmly
Absorbing nature
around me
While remembering
The spec of sand
or like an exit scene
From Men in Black
I grieve slightly
How seemingly insignificant
I can be held in a hand
Tenderly
Lovingly
Proud to show the world
I Am.
